Barkley’s arrival at Villa came after the club on the same day announced the signing of two Juventus players, namely Samuel Iling-Junior and Enzo Barrenechea, for a total transfer value of €22 million.
Both Iling-Junior and Barrenchea arrived at Villa on the same day that Douglas Luis moved from Villa to Juventus. The Brazilian midfielder has left Villa to sign a five-year, £42.3m deal with Juventus.
Villa finished fourth in last season’s Premier League, as the 1982 European Cup winners finally qualified for the Champions League.
