Beating Bochum 5-0, Leverkusen unbeaten in 50 games

Jakarta (ANTARA) –

Bayer Leverkusen extended their unbeaten record again this season to 50 games after beating Bochum 5-0 in week 33 of the 2023/24 Bundesliga at the Vonovia Ruhrstadion on Monday morning WIB.

Leverkusen’s five goals were scored by Patrick Schick, Victor Boniface, Amine Adli, Josip Stanisic and Alex Grimaldo.

The three additional points mean Leverkusen now have 87 points, 15 points ahead of second-placed Bayern Munich. Bochum are in 14th place with 33 points, just three points ahead of Union Berlin in 17th place, as reported on the German League’s official website.

The hosts had to play with 10 men after Felix Passlack was sent off for a foul on Nathan Tella in the 14th minute.

Despite having superior players, Leverkusen only managed to break the deadlock in the 41st minute. Schick, closely watched by the Bochum players, still managed to volley in front of goal after receiving Arthur’s cross. The score is 1-0.

Four minutes later Leverkusen doubled their lead to 2-0 thanks to Boniface’s penalty. The referee pointed to the spot after Nathan Tella was brought down in the prohibited area.

The 2-0 in the first half did not reduce Leverkusen’s attacks. They continued to attack Bochum until they finally got the third goal scored by Amine Adli in the 76th minute.

Jonas Hofmann’s corner kick to the far post was met by Adli’s header in the Bochum goal. The lead became 3-0.

Leverkusen increased their lead with a fourth goal in the 86th minute thanks to an action by Josip Stasinic.

Stasinic outmaneuvered a player into the penalty area and fired a low shot into the corner of the Bochum goal protected by Manuel Riemann. Score 4-0 for Leverkusen.

Leverkusen capped off their brilliant performance with their fifth goal in the 90+3 minute. Now it’s Stasinic’s turn to play the accelerating passer on the right side of the defense and as soon as he is in front of the goalkeeper, the ball is passed to Grimaldo who just has to send the ball into the goal. Bochum-Bayer Leverkusen 0-5.

Leverkusen have become Bundesliga champions and are just one match away from finishing the Bundesliga season without defeat.

The home match against Augsburg will take place next weekend to achieve this goal.
