Biden and Trump agree on two debate sessions for US presidential candidates

Washington, DC (ANTARA) – US President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump agreed on Wednesday (5/15) to hold two campaign debates in June and September for this year’s US presidential election.

The debate between Biden and Trump, the two presidential candidates supported respectively by the Democratic Party and the Republican Party, will be conducted by the two television channels CNN and ABC respectively.

“I have accepted and accept @CNN’s invitation to the June 27 debate. It’s your turn to respond, Donald. Like you said: anywhere, anytime,” Biden said in a post on X.

Biden also said he had “accepted and consented to an invitation to a debate hosted by ABC on September 10.”

“Donald Trump lost two debates to me in 2020. Since then, he hasn’t appeared in debates. Now it looks like he wants to debate me again. Well, make me happy, man,” Biden said.

Trump, meanwhile, also confirmed that he will hold debates with Biden at the two proposed times, namely in June and September.

Trump has said he would strongly recommend holding more than two debate sessions.

According to CNN, the debate will take place in the network’s Atlanta studio without the presence of an audience. ABC also reported that Biden and Trump have agreed to a prime-time debate at the ABC News studio.
