Guardiola suggests staying at Manchester City for another season

Jakarta (ANTARA) – Pep Guardiola has announced that he will remain on his contract with Manchester City for another year.

For next season, the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich manager wants to win the FA Cup as revenge for the defeat against Manchester United in last Saturday’s final.

“We will be back next season,” Guardiola said, as reported by AFP on Sunday (26/5). “We will win the FA Cup.”

Guardiola then dismissed suggestions that he would “stay longer” at Manchester City and confirmed he would complete his contact until it was completed.

“I also didn’t expect to stay here for eight years, but everything went well,” Guardiola said as reported by AFP.

“Step by step we are here. It seems like a normal routine, but it’s not,” he said.

The best player in the Premier League this season, Phil Foden, said his team is still hungry, even though they have won the Premier League four times in a row.

“Obviously (four consecutive championships) is something no one else has ever done before. It’s an amazing feeling,” Foden said.

“There is a hunger in us to win trophies and other players want to win too. We are happy with this season, but next season we want to win more,” said the Manchester City academy graduate.

City confirmed themselves as Premier League champions after winning 3-1 over West Ham last week. The City players celebrated the championship by partying until the early hours of the morning. Captain Kyle Walker said the title celebration was not linked to the team’s failure to win the FA Cup.

“We celebrate on Sunday. There are six days left (until the FA final). If we athletes can’t recover in six days, there’s no chance for anyone,” Walker said.

“The club, the players and the staff made the decision (to celebrate the Premier League champions). So don’t blame that,” he said.
