‘I am not a young guy but…’: Biden releases campaigning ad

NEW DELHI: Joe Biden released a new campaign ad mentioning a list of the administration’s accomplishments with the president making lighthearted references to his age. He also said that former President Donald Trump believed that the job of the president was to take care of “Donald Trump.”
As soon as the camera starts, the 81-year-old President immediately addresses the elephant in the room: his age.He said, “Look, I am not a young guy, that’s no secret but here’s the deal. I understand how to get things done for the American people.”
After outlining his administration’s accomplishments, which included fighting the COVID-19 pandemic, improving the economy, and lowering prescription medication costs, he moved on to topics that are especially relevant to younger voters.
“I led the country through the covid crisis. Today, we have the strongest economy in the world. I passed a law that lowers prescription drug prices. Cap Insulin at USD 35 a month for seniors,” Biden said in the video.
“For four years, Donald Trump tried to pass an infrastructure law and he failed. I got it done. Now we’re building America. I passed the biggest law in history to combat climate change because our future depends on it,” he added.
Biden, referring to the federal right to an abortion, accused Trump of taking away “the freedom of women to choose.” The former president put three conservative justices on the Supreme Court who were part of a majority that struck down the federal right to an abortion in overturning Roe v. Wade.
He further added, “Donald Trump believes the job of the President is to take care of Donald Trump. I believe the job of the President is to fight for you, the American people. And that’s what I am doing. “
In the start of the video, Biden acknowledged his age but coming to the end of the video when a voice is heard off-camera asking for another take, he said, “Look I am very young, energetic, and handsome. What the hell am I doing this for?”
As the oldest sitting president of the United States in history, Biden’s age and the public’s perception of his qualifications have created a political vulnerability for him. In a CBS News survey conducted in late February, 49% of respondents thought Trump had the mental and cognitive capacity to lead the country, while only 32% thought Biden did.
