Liverpool won 2-0 over Wolves in Jurgen Klopp’s farewell match

Jakarta (ANTARA) – Liverpool closed the 2023/24 English Premier League season with a 2-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers, Jurgen Klopp’s farewell match as coach of the Reds since 2015.

Liverpool host Wolves at Anfield on Sunday (19/5) evening WIB. The hosts’ two goals were scored by Alexis Marc Allister and Jarell Amorin Quansah.

With this result, Liverpool finished third with 82 points while Wolves were in 14th place with 46 points, as reported on the official website of the Premier League.
 

Wolves looked attacking right from the kick-off, but Liverpool slowly managed to escape the pressure and regain control of the game.

Wolves had to play with 10 men from the 28th minute after Nelson Semedo received a red card after making a hard tackle on Alexis Mac Allister. The referee cautioned the Portuguese defender before reviewing the VAR screen.

Liverpool could open the scoring in the 34th minute. Harvey Elliott’s cross was successfully headed by Mac Allister who ran into the center of the penalty area. The score is 1-0.

Jarell Quansah doubled Liverpool’s lead to 2-0 in the 40th minute. Mohamed Salah’s kick hit and rolled wildly, but the ball was grabbed by Quansah in front of the goal.

The hosts were ahead 2-0 in the first half.

Liverpool almost scored their third goal in the 50th minute. Cody Gakpo manages to get around the goalkeeper and sends a cross into the net which is caught by Luis Diaz. The ball hits the crossbar and bounces to the ground, but has not crossed the line.

Liverpool continued to control the match. However, no further goals were scored until the end of the match.
