Mainz moved out of the relegation zone after beating Dortmund 3-0

Jakarta (ANTARA) – Mainz is out of the relegation zone after beating Borussia Dortmund 3-0 in the 33rd week of the German championship at the MEWA Arena stadium in Mainz, Sunday morning WIB.

This result takes Mainz to 15th place in the German league table with 32 points from 33 games, two points away from the relegation zone, according to Bundesliga records.

Meanwhile, Borrusia Dortmund is still in fifth place in the table with 60 points from 33 games, and is sure to secure a Champions League ticket next season.
 

In this match, Mainz’s victory came thanks to goals from Leandro Martins and Lee Jae-sung (2) in the first half.

Statistically, Borussia Dortmund is superior in ball possession with 65%, but Mainz are the ones who create chances more often after taking a total of 14 shots, including one on target.

Dortmund took the initiative to attack first and created a chance with Marco Reus’ shot which Mainz goalkeeper Robin Zentner managed to secure.

Mainz threatened with a free kick released by Nadiem Amiri, whose shot hit the crossbar again.

Subsequently, Mainz created another opportunity with a header from Silvan Widmer after receiving Anthony Caci’s pass, but the ball still hit the Dortmund goal post.

Mainz finally managed to take the lead in the 12th minute after Leandro Martins’ shot found Dortmund’s goal, so the score changed to 1–0.

The home team managed to increase their lead to 2-0 in the 19th minute thanks to a goal from Lee Jae-sung who took advantage of an error by Dortmund goalkeeper Alexander Meyer.

Just four minutes later, Mainz managed to increase their lead again to 3-0 thanks to Jae-sung’s goal following a pass from Leandro Martins.

Leading by three goals, Mainz did not immediately use defensive play and continued to try to keep up with Dortmund’s wave of attacks, but until half-time the score remained 3-0.

At the start of the second half, Mainz first created an opportunity with Jonathan Burkardt’s kick, but it was saved by Meyer.

Dortmund subsequently managed to break into Mainz’s goal thanks to Youssoufa Moukoko’s goal, but it was disallowed by VAR for offside.

After that, Dortmund continued to try to at least reduce their deficit, but Mainz continued to attack from time to time, but until the final whistle the score remained 3-0.
