Police call in chopper to thwart teens in Audi during Brisbane chase

Four teenagers have been arrested and charged after they allegedly stole an Audi from an upmarket Brisbane suburb, prompting police to call in a helicopter and use tyre spikes.

Police said an Audi S3 was stolen from a property on Main Street in Bardon, early on Saturday.

The missing vehicle was reported to police that afternoon, with officers tracking the Audi until the police helicopter was involved.

About 8pm, police used road spikes, before the car came to a stop on Gympie Arterial Road in Carseldine.

Police said the teenagers attempted to flee but officers and the dog squad were able to arrest them.

Newly appointed Acting Assistant Commissioner for Youth Crime Andrew Massingham said people deserved to feel safe in their homes.

“We will do everything in our power to ensure people who commit this kind of dangerous offending are brought to justice,” he said.

A 17-year-old Zillmere boy was charged with a range of offences, including enter dwelling and commit, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, and unlicensed driving.

A 16-year-old Chermside West boy and a 15-year-old Ormiston girl were also charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

All three were scheduled to appear in the Children’s Court in Brisbane at a later date.

An 18-year-old Zillmere man was also charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle and obstructing police, and was scheduled to appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court on January 30.
