Ranieri decided to retire after saving Cagliari from relegation

Jakarta (ANTARA) – 72-year-old Italian coach Claudio Ranieri will reportedly retire from the club after leading Cagliari to escape the relegation zone in Italy’s Serie A this season.

Ranieri has coached Cagliari since January 2023 and this season led his team to promotion to Serie A after winning the playoffs.

This season, after a rather difficult season, he managed to escape Cagliari from the relegation abyss by finishing in 15th place with 36 points, three points ahead of Empoli in the final relegation zone.

“The decision was confirmed after saving Cagliari from the relegation battle,” he added.

Despite having managed dozens of clubs during his career, Ranieri’s most memorable achievement was when he led Leicester City to become Premier League champions in the 2015/2016 season.

At that time, he led the Foxs to first place with 81 points, beating second place Arsenal with 71 points and Tottenham Hotspur with 70 points.
