Raphael Varane is in the sights of Como 1907 and Rome

Jakarta (ANTARA) – Former Manchester United defender Raphael Varane is in the sights of two Serie A clubs, Como 1907 and AS Roma, Sky Sports reported on Saturday.

Varane is currently in Italy to talk to Como, owned by Indonesian entrepreneurs.

In addition to speaking with the Como management, the 31-year-old defender will also meet Cecs Fabregas, who will coach the newly promoted club next season.

“Raphael Varane is already at Como and is ready to discuss a transfer to the Italian club,” read Saturday’s statement.

The report also claims that AS Roma are now also interested in bringing the 2018 World Cup champion with them.

The Giallorossi are looking for a new defender, and the club has also linked with former Borussia Dortmund player Mats Hummels.

Varane is currently on a free transfer after failing to extend his contract with Manchester United until the end of the 2023/24 season.

His career with the Red Devils has had its ups and downs since joining from Real Madrid in the 2021/2022 season.

He was injured often, but played a total of 95 games and scored two goals in all competitions.

With the English club, Varane presented the FA Cup and the Carabao Cup.
