Real Madrid agreed to release Joselu to Qatari club Al-Gharafa

Jakarta (ANTARA) – Real Madrid have announced that they have reached an agreement with Qatari club Al-Gharafa SC for the transfer of Joselu Mato.

Real Madrid had to make Joselu permanent from RCD Espanyol by paying his release clause of €1.5 million (around Rs26 billion) before selling him to Al-Gharafa for the same price.

“Real Madrid CF, after depositing the optionour termination clause “Joselu Mato of RCD Espanyol, has reached an agreement with Al-Gharafa SC for the transfer of our player,” Real Madrid said on its official website on Saturday.

During the 2023-2024 season, Joselu will become one of the most important players in the Real Madrid squad. He played 49 matches, scored 18 goals and helped the club win three titles, namely the Champions League, the Spanish League and the Spanish Super Cup.

Joselu played an important role in taking Real Madrid to the Champions League final for the 2023/24 season after scoring a goal in the second leg of the semi-final against Bayern Munich.

The 34-year-old striker scored two goals and took Real Madrid to the Wembley final before the Spanish club finally won their 15th Champions League.

In its official statement, Real Madrid expressed its thanks to Joselu for his professionalism and dedication to the club.

Meanwhile, Joselu greeted the club and Real Madrid fans via his Instagram account.

“Thank you Real Madrid for everything you made me feel throughout my life, thank you for what you taught me as a child; thank you for giving me so many examples of greatness and humility at the same time,” he wrote.

“Thank you for keeping my dream alive and making it a reality.”
