Tielemans’ two goals forced Liverpool to a 3–3 draw against Aston Villa

Jakarta (ANTARA) – Two goals from Youri Tielemans forced Liverpool to a 3-3 draw against Aston Villa on Matchday 37 of the 2023/24 English Premier League at Villa Park Stadium on Tuesday morning WIB.

Liverpool’s three goals were scored by the suicides of Emiliano Martinez, Cody Gakpo and Jarell Amorin Quansah. The hosts managed to avoid defeat thanks to braces from Jhon Duran and Youri Tielemans.

However, Villa is still followed by Tottenham Hotspur, who are in fifth position with 63 points, in the race for Champions League tickets with one last match left, as reported on the Spanish League’s official website.

Liverpool quickly took a 1–0 lead in the 2nd minute after Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez scored an own goal.

The goal started from Mohamed Salah’s pass to Harvey Elliott, who then fired a cross from the right, but it hit Ezri Konsa, making the Argentine goalkeeper’s catch incomplete and into his own net.

After defeating Jarell Quansah, Watkins sent a pass in front of the penalty area to Youri Tielemans, who kicked the ball into the bottom right corner of Allison’s goal. The position became 1-1.

The Reds regained the 2-1 lead in the 23rd minute thanks to Cody Gakpo’s goal. Joe Gomez’s pass on the right was not anticipated by Martinez, at that moment Gakpo snatched the ball into the goal. The goal was reviewed by VAR, but was still approved.

Substitute striker Jhon Duran managed to close the gap in the 85th minute. He took advantage of a lax Reds defense before launching a left-footed shot from the front of the penalty area which found the back of Alisson’s goal. Aston Villa-Liverpool 2-3.

Duran then erased Liverpool’s victory in plain sight with his second goal in the 88th minute. Duran completed a pass from Moussa Diaby to end the match in a 3–3 draw.
