Toni Kroos: It was the perfect ending

Jakarta (ANTARA) – Toni Kroos said that winning the 2023/2024 Champions League would be the perfect conclusion to his career as a Real Madrid player.

Sunday’s 2023/24 Champions League final will be Kroos’ last match as a Real Madrid player before retiring after playing for the German national team at Euro 2024.

“This is the perfect ending, the ending I’ve always dreamed of. I really thank everyone,” the 34-year-old midfielder said after the match, as reported by Fabrizio Romano.

Kroos started for Carlo Ancelotti in this final match. He contributed an assist to Real Madrid’s 2-0 victory over Borussia Dortmund.

Kroos said he was very grateful to be able to spend a decade with Real Madrid and end his career with Los Blancos.

“I will never forget what I experienced in 10 years at this club. Maybe one day I will miss moments like this,” Kroos continued.

“I made the decision to retire because I wanted to live a different life. Obviously I will miss playing for Real Madrid, but I wanted to leave this way and I’m very happy to be able to make it happen.”

Kroos also expressed his appreciation to his teammates who worked hard to win this match, because Dortmund played really well in the first half.

“We want to win this match and we prepared it as best we could. However, our performance in the first half was not good,” continued Kroos.

After this final, Kroos will join his colleagues from the German national team in preparation for Euro 2024.
