Washington (ANTARA) – Former US President Donald Trump’s campaign team has declared victory in the first debate against current President Joe Biden, in contrast to the two candidates’ performances on the debate stage.
“Tonight, (former) President Trump delivered the greatest debate performance and victory in history before the largest audience of voters in history, making clear exactly how he will improve the lives of every American,” the Trump campaign said in a statement Thursday night.
The statement also said Trump highlighted plans to reduce inflation and protect U.S. borders from illegal immigration.
Instead, Biden lied and failed to articulate a single plan to lower prices or make Americans safer, Trump’s team said in a statement.
Trump was right to argue that if Biden was “too incompetent” to stand trial, then he would be too incompetent to serve as president, the statement added.
Many Democrats have reportedly expressed concern about Biden’s poor performance and its impact on the future of his candidacy.
President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump faced each other again in the first debate for the 2024 United States presidential election which took place on Thursday (6/27) evening, local time.
The debate was the first in U.S. history in which a sitting president faced off against a defendant and former president.
