Unreal Tournament 99 Gorgeous RTX Remix Path Tracing Mod Is Now Available for Download

A new Unreal Tournament 99 RTX Remix path tracing mod is now available for download, masterfully overhauling the visuals of the classic first-person shooter.

The mod, which was developed by James Horsley and can be downloaded by going here, is a custom render device for the Unreal Engine built off the D3D9Drv renderer and modified to support RTX Remix better. The end results are amazing, as the mod keeps all of the game’s original assets, giving it a very peculiar look that looks extremely good.

The Unreal Tournament 99 RTX Remix mod is only one of the many mods introducing path tracing to older games. Among the projects in the works are mods for NFS Underground 2, Grand Theft Auto Vice City and San Andreas, Tomb Raider, Max Payne and many others. As NVIDIA has been updating the RTX Remix toolkit frequently since its open beta release, we should expect even more projects to begin development.

You can visit the RTX Remix official website to learn more about the modding tools powering today’s Unreal Tournament 99 path tracing mod.

NVIDIA RTX Remix, built on NVIDIA Omniverse and part of the NVIDIA Studio suite of tools for creators, is a platform for remastering fixed function pipeline DirectX 8 and 9 games, such as Call of Duty 2, Hitman 2: Silent Assassin, Garry’s Mod, Freedom Fighters, Need for Speed Underground 2, and Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines. Head to the ModDB’s Remix community resources to see the latest set of compatible games, and get technical info about compatibility in our Remix documentation.
