Watch: Inside the famous Sistine Chapel after crowds leave

Six million people visit the Sistine Chapel each year – making it the third most visited museum in the world.

This puts a strain on the health of the famous frescos.

In the past, experts suggested limiting the number of visitors to protect the chapel, but the Vatican has refused. Instead, they rely on modern technology to monitor and look after the world-renowned frescos.

The BBC’s Sara Monetta got exclusive access to witness how Michelangelo’s work is being looked after.

Filmed by Francesco Tosto, produced by Stefano Fasano
