You Can Use Your Android Phone As A Webcam, Just Like An iPhone Works With Mac

One of the best things about the Apple ecosystem is how all devices can work together to give you a seamless experience. Just look at Continuity Camera – a feature that lets you use your iPhone as a webcam every time you receive a call on your Mac. It’s such a simple but genius idea that makes people stick to the ecosystem so loyally. Well, that feature is finally headed to Android devices, too. However, you will need to be a part of the Windows 11 Insider Program and the latest Link to Windows installed on your phone.

Android devices can finally be used as webcams thanks to Microsoft’s Link to Windows

Microsoft has just announced that with the latest feature coming to the Windows Insider Program, users will be able to use their Android devices as webcams. The device in question will need to be running Android 9.0 or above, and you will also need a Link to Windows app installed on your device. Microsoft has said that the version of the app has to be 1.24012 or higher for the feature to work.

The crucial part here is that you will need to be a part of the Windows Insider program. Once you are part of it, you just have to be sure that your Android device or laptop/computer is connected with each other using the Link to Windows app, and you should be good to go.

The best thing is that Android users will be able to choose from the front or the back camera of their device, and there will also be effects that they can use. Microsoft has confirmed that the feature is currently rolling out to everyone who is in the Insider Program. If you are interested in knowing how to use it, we will be sure to publish a full guide to help you along.

Honestly, I am glad that a feature like this is heading to Android devices and Windows 11-powered computers. It will make things better for many people who don’t own a webcam at all or have a subpar webcam on their laptop. However, the one thing that I am really concerned about is whether this feature will work as well as the Continuity Camera because, as far as I know, things are pretty smooth on Apple devices. I have enrolled in the Insider Program and will test this feature to report back to you.
